Taking stock - top targets for inspection in your butchers shop
With 2022 now in full swing, it’s time to take stock of the year that’s gone. For the vast majority of butchers, the Christmas period is the busiest time of the year. As a result, before you start setting ambitious targets for the year ahead, it’s likely that your shop will need to undergo a little TLC. Thankfully, now is the perfect time to inspect equipment that’s undergone heavy use over the festive period. With this in mind, let’s take a look at the butchers machinery in your shop that might need checking, upgrading or replacing after a busy 2021.
1) Mincing machines
From burgers to meatballs and even steak tartar, a mincing machine is subjected to heavy use in any butchers shop. As a result, after periods of prolonged used, the blades can wear down and may need replacing. (That’s why it’s always smart to keep a stock of butchers spares on hand.)
Alternatively, if you’ve been using a manual mincer, then now is the perfect time to upgrade to an electric version. This will be far more comfortable to use when you’re mincing meat on a vast scale and will provide you with numerous benefits, including a more homogenous product and greater efficiency.
2) Knives
Whether it’s from cutting, dicing, filleting or slicing, your knives get a lot of use throughout the year. If you haven’t sharpened your knives in a while, then now is the perfect time. After all, a dull knife can be incredibly unsafe to use. It can also mean that cutting your meat takes much longer than it needs to, making your store inefficient. Thankfully, if you need a bit of a steer on how to carry this process out, our comprehensive guide can help.
Alternatively, if your knives are past their best or your order numbers have grown, consider buying a new set that will help you complete the task at hand.
3) Bandsaws
Here’s the truth: if your machinery stops working properly, then so will your business. For this reason, looking after your bandsaw is essential. When it comes to maintaining a bandsaw, pay particular attention to the blades, which can wear and dull over time. However, if your machine is showing signs of wear and tear, then you may also require spare parts to keep it in top notch condition. That’s where we can help – we stock an excellent range of guide kits, pulleys, blade scrapers and everything in between.
4) Sausage fillers
A sausage filler is an essential part of any butchers shop. However, if demand has increased over the past year, then you may find that your current hand operated sausage filler no longer meets your requirements. If you’re now struggling to make sausages in the quantity you require, then consider upgrading to a Mainca sausage filler. This will make the job so much quicker and easier.
